Important Notice Regarding Tours

(updated 2nd August 2010)

Please be advised that due to the high amount of algae and seaweed on the reefs, which need to be crossed on our two and four-hour tours, the Joggins Fossil Institute does not recommend anyone participate who has mobility issues or with young babies in carriers.

The level of risk fluctuates each day, depending upon the tides and the risk of slipping and causing injury is heightened when we experience the very high tides, which stay high longer and cause the reefs to be coated in slimy, slippery plant material.

Our Interpreters assess the reefs before each tour and should it be decided that it is unsafe to lead the tour, they will make that decision based upon visitor and staff safety.

If you are not able to participate in a 2 or 4 hour tour then we recommend a 1/2 hour tour. These go out on the hour every hour (depending upon the tides) and are a great introduction to the Joggins Fossil Cliffs.

The Joggins Fossil Institute is not responsible for any accident or injury, which may be sustained on one of our scheduled guided tours.

We always recommend that you call our bookings desk in advance on 902-251-2727 ext 231 to check the status of the day's tours.
