Stephanie grew up in Antigonish, N.S., and after almost ten years living and working in the United States, she moved back to Nova Scotia in 2012 and took on the role of Operations Manager at Joggins Fossil Institute. She has since moved to Cape Breton and joined the Faculty in the Shannon School of Business at Cape Breton University where she teaches full-time in their Bachelor of Hospitality & Tourism Management program. She also owns and operates her own business, SMAC Tourism Consulting.
Stephanie has a Master’s Degree in Tourism Administration with a concentration in Sustainable Destination Management from the George Washington University in Washington, D.C., along with a Bachelors in Applied Management in Hospitality & Tourism degree from the University of New Brunswick, Saint John, and a Diploma in Events & Conventions Management from the Holland College Tourism & Culinary Center in Charlottetown, P.E.I.. This is combined with several years of industry work and volunteer experience.
