A giant sinkhole appeared unexpectedly in Oxford, Nova Scotia in 2018; it grew rapidly and caused much alarm and interest to geologists and laypersons alike. Amy Tizzard, <abbr title=”Professional Geoscientist”>P. Geo.</abbr>, who is on the team studying it, will discuss its formation and why it happened, at the Joggins Fossil Center on Thursday September 19th, 2019, at 11 am at the Joggins Fossil Centre.

Repairs to the main beach access point are expected to be completed by late April, 2019; until then, an alterate access point will be used.
